Related: About this forumChuck our one-eyed wonder cat crossed the Rainbow Bridge yesterday
He was almost 19 years old. The last several years he was on medication for hyperthyroidism. Even though he ate a great deal he was just skin and bones and was having a hard time getting around.
It felt strange not having a furry alarm clock to wake me up this morning.
For the first time in over 20 years we are without a cat in the house. I'm not certain how I feel about that.
I'd post a photo of Chuck, but I don't know how to insert it.

(19,319 posts)I could not be without mine.
To post the photo, you post the URL link to where you uploaded it to, like Photobucket, etc. You can't insert a photo on DU any other way.

I am so very sorry for the loss of your precious boy. Do not be surprised if he comes to visit you. And, if/when you are ready, he will send another to you.

(871 posts)I'm so very sorry, those 19 years changed you in many ways. Please allow your grief to take a uninterrupted journey that will honor Chuck in a way that only you can.
God bless you and that beautiful treasure of a friend that you had and that you were.
Ecclesiastes 3.18-20 gave me the comfort I needed to trust that my Snuggles soul is safe.
There are so many ways she positively enriched my life.
I have found that during my daily walks to aid in my back surgery recovery, I ask her to come along like she used to and I talk to her about whatever flows.

(27,415 posts)There are times I will see something move, out of the corner of my eye, and my kidcats are all on the other side of the house. I immediately think of Sophie Stinky Toes. She rarely let me out of her sight so maybe that habit continues.

I still miss the fur babies whove left me, ever since my first cat came into my life when I was a kid.
Hugging you. (((((*)))))

(81 posts)I'm sorry to hear about Chuck. It's really hard to lose long-loved pets. But, people, please get real. There is no such thing as the Rainbow Bridge. The cat died.

(122,027 posts)unfeeling, totally unnecessary post. However self-important that dreadful screed makes you feel, you should delete it.

(26,102 posts)No matter how long they've been with us, it's never long enough.
One of our vets once said to us, after the passing of a fairly senior cat, that offering a loving home to a successor was the best way to honor a departed cat.
