which are defined as messengers of God. Being known by a being of another species is, for me, a holy mystery and proof of my own non-negotiable reality.

Simple.
Simply conscious-being recognizing conscious-being.
The forms and wrappers change and determine how conscious-being within can experience and communicate.
Dog bodies can hear what human ears do not, while human hands can do more than other animals.
Plants communicate. Inter-species communication is known.
No life exists without conscious-being within.

With my back surgery recovery just beginning, when I take the two or three walks a day, I've asked my feline Angels to accompany me. I'm introducing them to each other and telling them cute stories about our lives together.
So, today Snuggles met Pookie the fuzzy butt and ChiChi the rat, uhm Chihuahua.

based on a personal experience, I believe that souls continue after they leave this bodily existence. All your fur babies are in a place of peace, waiting for the day that you join them.

The acts of kindness you shared with them let them know they were loved.

At least, deep in their kitty-souls, they knew that they were loved and cherished. You're a good person, Siwsan.

The whole thing just reminds us how precious, but fragile, life can be.

(I found two dead birds in the yard, doves of two different species, in as many days. Perfectly intact, no sign of predator damage. Hoping there isn't some bird disease going around. No, I didn't touch them. Use a stick and old bucket.)
