Pets
Related: About this forumI have a new strategy with Carys and it seems to be working. And a new pic.
I watched this video of a woman who had trouble socializing a foster. She found the best success using food and by hand feeding the foster.
I started doing that with some chicken and with treats. She patiently waits for me to finish eating and if it's 'safe' food for her, I leave a little on the plate for her to clean.
For the past few days she's been spending most of her time in what ever room I and the other kidcats are in. She transitioned to the table that is next to my chair. Today she transitioned TO the chair. She let me pet her and even, at one point, pick her up and give her a kiss. She's also been giving me LOTS of slow blinks.
Now, consistency is not her thing but patience and persistence are mine, and the progress is undeniable.
Here she is with Arthur. He's on my lap. She's snuggled with her butt up against me.

(19,321 posts)The look on Arthur's face is sheer bliss. I'll bet Carys's face would be the same, if I could see it.
