Related: About this forumI'm definitely seeing a behavior change in Carys
She now sits very patiently and waits for me to finish eating, hoping I'll put the plate and any remains of my meal on the floor. This doesn't always happen because I use a lot of garlic and onions but breakfast is usually a safe bet. Especially when I have a bagel with cream cheese. She LOVES cream cheese.
For the past few afternoons, she's jumped up on the table that is next to my favorite chair and let me give her pets and scritches. She also rubs her head against my hand and arm, and purrs up a storm. This will last for a few minutes, and then she's off to settle down in the little kitty pub I bought at Aldi. She did this at least 4 times, yesterday. She's also taking treats from my hand.
Her siblings are much more socialized but I'm not surprised. When they were still outside, Carys was the only one I could never pick up. Space Boy LOVED to be held. He actually initiated contact with me. Moon Dust was a little slower to accept human touch but she's doing so much better. I think her being adopted with her brother really helped. My experience cat rescuer best friend was finally able to catch Carys and bring her inside.
So I'm on her timeline but it makes me SO happy when she initiates contact.

(3,988 posts)that's along with the care and love you have for your indoor cats. You deserve all the times the kitties make you happy, with the accomplishments of a better life for the cat near you that are homeless.

(27,415 posts)It might take a few tries to catch them, but it makes such a difference. Even though they might hiss and spit, once you hold them they just melt. After two or three cuddles, they realize how nice it feels to be cuddled.

(122,035 posts)and patient and loving with her, and it is clearly paying off!!!
So happy for you, and that beautiful girl.
With my little rescue, over the course of several years (two outside before I finally got him inside) we have gone from, "Don't touch me" to "What do you mean, you need to get up? I haven't finished my nap." And I love it.
We who are lived by the furpeople are truly blessed.
