I was tying my shoes and getting ready to walk out the door when I heard the familiar "thwack" sound of the cat door flapping back and forth. Then I had a lap full of kitty. "You're going nowhere dad!".

(3,048 posts)I always take care of him when they travel. They have a big black cat named Sam. They also helped me rescue a cat from the parking lot here at the warehouse. They even paid his first vet bill!

(3,048 posts)I live just north of Fort Lauderdale. I work alone in a small warehouse. We might get below freezing one or two nights the whole year. Right now it's nice. We can turn the a/c off and open the windows. My wife and I did live in Boston for a couple of years. I had to buy long pants to wear up there. I never did get a winter coat though. I just put on a sweatshirt and a hoodie and got one of those water resistant wind breakers. I liked Boston but I wasn't making any money up there so we came back home.

(3,048 posts)I've lived down here since the early 70s though, so I'm what they call a "Semi-native" of south Florida. One thing that cracked me up about living in the cold was the fact that I would have to get dressed just to take the garbage out. One winter it snowed up the roof of our minivan. I don't miss having to dig out. That was hard work!
