Related: About this forumLook man I found food ,Dunk pup on our walk.
So we went into town to walk at the park behind dollar store along the stream some nice paths there. So my WOOF ran to the dumpster behind dollar store and found some trash they pitched I then I had to leash him to drag him away from his find.
Several packages of hot dogs
Some frozen pizzas
Several bags bread
In the car I had to explain to pup i said you know the find does not mean that you actually hunted down the pogey bait like your wild relatives do to survive i just got side eye from him that look Man youre full of shit.
Enjoy the holidays with those you love if youre alone then I hope you can have nice Christmas if you wanna chat my DM is open so you can have someone to chat with tomorrow ,and remember and be thankful were not living in a hole like those in Ukraine trying to stay alive and warm.

(30,154 posts)In grief counseling when it came to big holidays the advice was to have a plan. It's early days for you and your sons but I can see you've lost none of your kindness and good humor.

P.S. No, my cat isn't named after the White House cat. We had our Willow first. But I do enjoy the coinkydink!

(5,341 posts)This time of year i always think of the homeless. A friend I once had became homeless when his sister threw him out. He froze to death because he did not want to spend the nights in the homeless shelter of Santa Fe. He died, frozen on the streets.
Since then I always think of those on the streets under all conditions.
A few years ago, I saw a tattered person I befriended because he had 2 dogs perched on his pull cart he dragged around a big city, collecting discarded items from the huge condos on trash days. I gave him some money to help his dogs and some nice items I had in the family condo for him to try to sell. He thanked me profusely. Years passed, the covid lockdown days came and went and I often wondered what became of this guardian of 2 dogs.
I just saw him a couple of days ago. But it was a quick moment as I was passing by quickly, but I caught a glimpse of him sleeping on the street with one of the dogs who was snuggled to him very closely. It was kind of sad, I had to leave the next day and was in a hurry; he was surrounded by many homeless, alone with just one dog.
on edit: I just thought of this account because of your thoughts on the folks in Ukraine. so true, what they have endured. thanks brother Duncanpup for sharing your adventures once again. It always makes me smile.

(3,447 posts)I wish for you and your family smiles and laughter amid the heartbreak of first holidays after losing one so dear. I lost my Mama this past July, so I will be doing my best to find smiles despite the tears, as she would want me to.
All the blessings of the season to you, my friend.
