Pets
Related: About this forumHappy update on trapped (formerly) homeless kitty.
His worming, vaxes & snip is tomorrow morning.
He is finally eating & accepting scritches in cage!
Any good vibes & insights on after snip care & introducing him to pittie & senior rescue queen would be much appreciated!
tyia!

(62,159 posts)Just not sure whether to pick him up for cuddles while he is still groggy from surgery...

I'd give him lots of pets but I don't think I'd pick him up. Cats are both predator and prey; lots of otherwise tame cats freak out when they're picked up.

(62,159 posts)He has been homeless for 4 yrs, but has recently allowed for extended petting while rumbling & making biscuits.
So I'm thinking to introduce him to cuddles while he is still groggy.

(23,151 posts)Get him used to you when he is a bit out of it - he will remember your smell and know that you will not hurt him.
Congratulations and good luck!

(25,183 posts)the word "pet" to "let" in my post. Fixed it to say that I would only "pet" him after surgery.
(I hate it when autocorrect changes a perfectly good word to something else, as if second guessing what I mean.)

(13,004 posts)I would'nt be able to resist getting a pet or two in while he was groggy. Its damn near impossible for me not to do it.

But I don't want to hurt him.

(62,159 posts)I'd never experienced an ice storm till last winter. It was heartbreaking to stand outside & listen to tree branches breaking...and watching them fall.

(62,159 posts)It's only forecast for 3 days sub freezing, but last winter, over 100 water mains broke in Memphis. Nothing here is built for this kind of cold.
Fortunately, my home is very well insulated & ductless hvac is great, but the poor trees. 😓
Ty again!
