One of my cats was screaming in the kitchen

I knew she had food and treatsies this morning....so I went to see if she was stuck or had something wrong.

Nope, she just wanted me to pet her and didn't want to get up and come ask for it.

My life is run by cats and dogs...which isn't bad.

while I'm in the bedroom, and start yowling and sounding ever so pitiful, just to get me to the kitchen to give them treats. It happens almost every day.

will just stand by the fridge and woof until I get up to give him his tiny bone shaped treat every morning.

I work for them, the cats and the dogs.

I adore my kitties and dogs.

She is adorable....I have janky dogs right now.

Our Pyrenees died winter before last of bone cancer, so we got a new random mix dog who was about 8 months old. Soon after we got her, she lost most of her fur and started to gain weight really fast. Turns out she's one of the tiny minority of young dogs to have hypothyroid. So, she's on meds and we're hoping she gets her fur back. Our other dog is 17 years old, about 30 pounds and appears to be made of random dog parts. He's got a big personality for a little dog though. When he was young, he would boss around my mother's pack of big dogs. Now, he mostly sleeps.

Hmmm...can you tell I spend a LOT of time alone? There I go, rambling. Sorry.

My last two, both rescues, died within five days of each other recently. It nearly broke me completely.

I've always had animals in my life. Many different kinds.

Thanks so much for your reply, Bettie.

In my house I get harassed by my oldest dog, an eight year old standard poodle. He thinks he runs the household. He knows what time I should get up and when everything should be going on. He gets his treats, as does his brother (same father different mother and nine months younger), but if he isn't getting the amount of attention he thinks he should be he barks at me. He will keep it up until I stop what I'm doing and give him a hug/scratch/another treat and he trots happily away to stare at the neighbor's house to see if there are any infractions. He would be a Karen if he were a she.

They are clearly individuals. It hurts to see so many animals abused and neglected. It will probably get worse because of rising costs.

Between the traps and the exterminator, they're gone now. They were getting bold enough for me to see them scurry along the baseboards when I switched on the light. My sweet, little hound is now permanently afraid of going in the kitchen. I'm sure she sensed something wild in there, smelled them, whatever. Now I have to give her a little shove from behind to get her to go in to get to the back door when she wants to go out in the yard. She's the same 'hunting dog' that froze when she upset a nest of baby bunnies by shoving her nose too deep into a bunch of tall grass. Pacifist to her core.
