What's for Dinner, Sat., Jan. 4, 2025

Stir Fry: Chicken with Broccoli . I already did the chicken General Tso's style, with soy sauce, hoisin, and rice vinegar, so this will be easy. All I have to do now is prepare the broccoli. Serving over couscous.

Plus I have 4 little cucumbers, so I'll make cucumber salad with peanuts as a side.

Strawberry-hibiscus kombucha.

For dessert, a big mug of hot chocolate with those cocoa chocolate chips I mentioned a few weeks ago. Maybe a mini-croissant with hazelnut chocolate spread and a Halo.

Yum! Broccoli!

A predicted 12 inches of snow from about now 3PM Saturday through evening tomorrow. Probably won’t see above freezing temps for ten days. Got lots of soup in the pantry.

Scoping out the joint because NYC is cold and it’s 80 degrees in Central America.

We’re going to a local steak house with new acquaintances. Chow down!

Looks like a rain forest canopy

I had the last rib from the meal I made the other day. I got 2 heads of nice fresh cabbage and used 1/2 of one head to make coleslaw.
Yesterday, I fried the other half of the cabbage with onion and garlic, in a little bacon fat. Glad I like cabbage!

Finished the Waldorf salad, which could be a dessert

Happy Saturday

Love that cool infinite broccoli graphic!

Broiled wild caught pink salmon fillets. Steamed cabbage and mushrooms, air fried sweet potato nuggets and homemade apple sauce. Mixed berry crisp for dessert with coconut whip. Cheers! 🥂

I got some actual Thai panang curry paste, and this will be my first experiment with it.

I worked a half day, came home, and we went out. Then we came home, and I canned 5 pounds of gold potatoes.

I'm supposed to start sewing now, but I just can't get up the energy. I'll do it tomorrow. It's a project for somebody else and it's teaching me just how much I loathe minky fabric.

I'm thinking of doing a birria-like dish with the rest of the pulled pork that I didn't freeze.

I hear you about minky! When I was working on quilt shows I proposed a rule that anyone who backed a quilt with minky had to hang it themselves. Especially if it was a queen-sized quilt. Feels nice, but man that stuff is heavy!
