Is Aldis different in other areas?

(38,438 posts)Aldi has a huge, very happy consumer base. You should go over to Reddit and look for r/aldi. People get so excited about that store and I can see why. They post about the various products they buy and tell others what's good and what's not. It's rare to see someone not like something they bought.
If Aldi has a weak spot, it might be the produce, although mine has nothing but the best produce.
They have their own brands, like "Benton" for cookies, for example. No off-brand, just their own private label. They still sell the major brands but they are more expensive than the store label brand. They sell Kraft, Coca Cola, Procter & Gamble, etc. But still less than the regular supermarket!
I'm sorry you have a lousy Aldi. That shouldn't be the case. In NJ, though, we have such a dense population; in a lot of areas it's affluent, so the customer expectations are high. Add that there is competition like Lidl or local stores that sell for low prices, and you have a situation where the management has to be good or they'll be out of business.
So sorry you don't have a good Aldi!
I have complained on one occasion and found them to be very responsive. You ought to write a letter of complaint and light a fire under their feet.
Also, our Aldi is huge. Some of the older Aldis are small, but not ours. It's not quite the size of a supermarket, but close. It's in a very nice neighborhood with good parking.
My daughter asked me to give her a lift, when she dropped off her car this morning. She got me a coffee. Since I was out, I went to the IGA and got a few things, like BACON!
So I'm have bacon-egg-cheese on an English muffin and I am so content!
IGA had Sugardale brand for 2.98/12 oz. That'll last me for 2 or 3 weeks. They had fresh cabbage for .25/lb, so I'm already fantasizing about a pan of fried cabbage with bacon, onion and garlic.
