give me some advice on Aspergers and how it affects people.
I have been reading alittle myself but I would appreciate more information.

(1,975 posts)From all of our sons doctors and councilors, Aspergers is going away as a diagnosis. It will be combined or redefined as a differant disorder.

(19,288 posts)That is one Dx I know very little about. I have worked with the DD population and mental patients, addicts, and Alzheimer's. But that's it.

(73,188 posts)I worked more with autistic children who couldn't communicate, though, as a sub for a "Severe and Profound" resource room back in the 90s.
My son is not Aspie but has some similar qualities. His therapist called him "Pervasive developmental disorder with Asperger-like features."
Unfortunately I don't have more information to share, other than they aren't mass murderers just because they have Asperger's! (Soon to be relabled as a part of the autism spectrum.)
We do have people on this site who are very knowledgable about it, and I think if you include your question in your subject header so they see it you might get an answer, although you would probably be better off just to visit their group: http://www.democraticunderground.com/?com=forum&id=1145
