Cancer Support
Related: About this forumMy scan was good.
The oncologist is now scheduling scans every six months instead of every three months.
This is about the only good thing in my life right now, other than a supportive husband. (That means a lot). Social Security is still threatening my benefits. We are getting a guardian ad litem for my mother, who has dementia. I have her health care and durable powers of attorney. However, she beat up on me and ripped my clothes the last time I was there. That is enough...someone else can put up with the crazy. And if you think this is all due to dementia, think again. She has spent a lifetime beating me and telling me she hates me. I don't know why I try to help her.
Anyway, I am doing well in the cancer department. I am thankful for that, and for the support I get here.
I am going to shut up now, rather than overshare any more.

(6,388 posts)Isn't it lovely to only have to go through that process twice a year, instead of quarterly?
I'm on the every six months schedule. Every little step forward is a victory!

(9,011 posts)I am on a 6 month schedule with my oncologist also and now after 5 years he tells me next visit I will graduate......don't have to come back unless have a symptom in the future!!
I'm keeping my port so will be going for flushes but it doesn't bother me and so will keep for a few years more. I only get flushed now every three months.

(15,512 posts)After everything is settled with your mom, take yourself and hubby on a nice quiet vacation.
Reset yourself. Knowing you won't have
to deal with the hate and abuse anymore,
Will free you up emotionally. Embrace it.

(60,161 posts)It’s good that you are walking away from abusive people. You have greater priorities than being a punching bag for others.
I severed ties with my parents a long time ago. One of my best moves. Their passing brought relief.
