A hemilaminectomy is a spine surgery that involves removing part of one of the two laiminae on a vertebra to relieve excess pressure on the spinal nerve(s) in the lumbar spine, or lower back. A hemilaminectomy can be performed to relieve symptoms such as back pain and radiating leg pain.

but a neurologist has told me he wants to do that or some other kind of surgery to relieve pain I have in my arm and leg. I’m not going to do it until it gets worse. I’m not eager to have back surgery. I’ve seen a lot of people get messed up by back surgery. If you’re having unbearable pain, though, you really have no choice but to give it a try.
