Russian Double Trouble - Joe Blogs
Russia has just been hit by a double blow that could trigger the biggest collapse in its oil revenues since the start of the war.
In this video I break down two major developments unfolding right now:
① India, Turkey and China are all cutting back their purchases of Russian crude.
Indias imports have fallen to the lowest level in almost three years, Turkey is steadily reducing volumes, and China has scaled back its seaborne purchases. Together, these countries account for most of Russias oil exports so this sudden retreat is a huge problem for the Kremlin.
② Ukraine has launched a new wave of attacks against Russias shadow fleet tankers in the Black Sea.
Several tankers and loading facilities have been damaged, shipping risk has surged, and some vessels are refusing to enter the region. This threatens Russias ability to physically ship its oil, even if buyers still want it.
With falling demand and disrupted supply routes, Russia is now facing one of its most dangerous moments since 2022. Prices are dropping, discounts are widening, the shadow fleet is under pressure, and production cuts may now be unavoidable.
In this video I explain whats happening, why it matters, and what this could mean for Russias economy, the global oil market, and the direction of the war.
