Vegans found to have highest amount of disease-fighting biomarkers
Like clues at a crime scene, biomarkers in blood, urine, fat tissue and other biospecimens can serve as indicators or predictors of health and disease. Biomarkers may have favorable or unfavorable health effects, promoting or preventing cancer, cardiovascular and age-related diseases, and other chronic conditions.
Researchers at the School of Public Health found that a vegan diet slightly outperformed other vegetarian diets, all of which fared better than semi-vegetarian or non-vegetarian diets.

(5,020 posts)Vegan may be out of reach, because I love yogurt and eggs. I could see finding an egg substitute, but what do I substitute for yogurt!?

(5,020 posts)You start where you are, & you go where you go, & you don't kick yourself that you're not good enough or pure enough.
If you're looking for an egg replacement for baking, there are lots of options to try & see what works best. And some replacements work better than others in different situations. Google "vegan egg replacer for baking" & you'll find plenty of hits.
But if you are looking for a vegan replacement for a plate of scrambled eggs, please let me know if you find one.
Good luck to you & your husband. Veg is easier than ever these days, what with milk/cheese/meat replacements & the internet to source out recipes. There is a recipe thread pinned to the top of this Group.

(4,516 posts)I have been a vegetarian for 25 years. I'm 72 and have no health problems.
A guy at the dog park learned I was vegetarian. He told me his daughter was vegetarian in her teens and now she has bad knees because she didn't take ant supplements.
