Pittsburgh LRV extended to the Northshore

For information see:
http://old.post-gazette.com/pg/12073/1216316-53.stm

This is a 1.2 mile extension of the existing LRV system. This started as an add on to a planned extension of the LRV to the Oakland section of Pittsburgh (Downtown Pittsburgh and Oakland and the Second and Third busiest transit stops in Pennsylvania, Downtown Philadelphia is Number One).

The extension to Oakland was cancelled but this add on stayed alive the last 20 or so years. The Extension to Oakland would cost over $1 billion dollars (and worth every penny) but so far no one wants to spend the money, but Pittsburgh gets this 1.2 mile extension to the Football and Baseball Stadiums. Yes, I would have preferred an extension to Oakland, it makes more sense then this 1.2 mile expansion, but the power that be in Pittsburgh wanted this 1.2 mile extension over any extension to Oakland (Where the University of Pittsburgh is located).
