Just received this from my electricity provider (Texas)

Data centers increase projected energy demand over 330% by 2032
transmission lines

ERCOT released updated energy demand forecasts. It's a major shift.

Current Peak Demand: ~85,000 MW
Projected 2032 Peak Demand: Up to 367,000 MW

This is not normal growth. It's accelerated by a surge in energy-hungry data centers. Data center demand is not seasonal, it's constant.

The grid is built to handle hot summers, not 24/7 peak demand.

ERCOT must actively redesign how the grid will handle this increased consumption.

What this means for you:

More generation is coming, but it needs to be the right kind to ensure reliable and affordable power for homes and businesses.
The state will need more transmission infrastructure. We can expect increased TDU delivery charges.
If generation and infrastructure are developed in a coordinated way, it helps keep costs more stable for customers over time.
