HENDERSON, Nev. (KLAS) — More than six months after walking off the job, dozens of Henderson workers remain on the picket line as contract negotiations with one of the nation’s largest building materials manufacturers continue with no agreement in sight.

About 60 union workers represented by Teamsters Local 631 have been on strike against Quikrete since January. They say the dispute centers on retirement benefits, health insurance and what their future will look like after years on the job.

“I have a one-year-old son, and without insurance, it’s taking a toll on me,” said Cesar Lozano, who has worked for Quikrete for seven years.

Workers have continued rotating six-hour shifts on the picket line through the summer heat while negotiations remain at a standstill.
