Alsobrooks is the only 2024 MD Democratic US Senate candidate that lacks legislative experience.
Alsobrooks first elected office was Prince Georges County State Attorney in 2010. She got that idea from Vice President Kamala Harris who was back then the San Francisco District Attorney from 2004-2011. Alsobrooks was re-elected to the Prince Georges County State Attorneys office in 2014. In 2018 and 2020 Alsobrooks was elected and re-elected Prince Georges County Executive.
Jawando is currently Montgomery County councilor.
Trone is currently US Representative of MD-6(Western MD)
Olszewski is currently Baltimore County Executive and was previously state delegate.
Raskin is currently US Representative of MD-8(Montgomery County).
Sarbanes is currently US Representative of MD-3(Baltimore Metro)
Another Democrat that needs to be mentioned as a candidate if Ivey.
Ivey is currently US Representative of MD-4(Prince Georges County).
Ivey has been elected to the US House of Representative in 2022. That should not prevent Ivey from becoming a candidate. Ivey ran for the US House of Representative of MD-4 in 2016 when Donna Edwards vacated that office to run for the US Senate. Ivey lost in the Democratic primary to Anthony Brown by a high single(7.6 percent) margin. Ivey ran again in 2022 when Brown left the US House to become State Attorney General. Ivey previously served as Prince Georges County State Attorney from 2002-2010.
After Ivey left the Prince Georges County State Attorneys office in 2010, he decided to run for the US House of Representive in 2012 to challenge Donna Edwards in the Democratic primary but could not raise money. Ivey and the other Prince Georges County area US Representative Hoyer are going to endorse Alsobrooks along with Harris,Van Hollen,Moore,Miller,Brown, and Lierman.
