Bondi Beach Shooting: The parents of 10-year-old Matilda have spoken publicly about the final moments before she was killed in the Bondi Beach shooting, describing confusion, panic and a desperate attempt to save their daughter’s life.
Her father said he wrapped his shirt around her wounds as she struggled to breathe, believing the initial gunshots were fireworks. Her mother recalled being briefly separated before finding her daughter lying on the ground.
The attack, Australia’s deadliest mass shooting in nearly 30 years, is being investigated as an act of terrorism targeting the Jewish community. Sixteen people were killed, including one of the attackers.
