Edmonds nonprofit receives $15K grant to help students

EDMONDS — A Seattle charity has awarded $15,000 to The Foundation for Edmonds School District, the nonprofit announced Tuesday. Money from the grant will go toward job training and meals for children in need.

A total of $10,000 will support the nonprofit’s On-the-Job Training program, the nonprofit said in a press release. Students can earn credits and participate in paid summer internships in the fields of videography, culinary arts, early childhood education or construction trades.

The remaining $5,000 will go toward the nonprofit’s Nourishing Network, which provides weekend, holiday and summer meals for children and families facing hunger, the nonprofit said.

The grants were awarded by the Hazel Miller Foundation, a Seattle-based charity that supports various causes in Edmonds and south Snohomish County.
