Who is really influencing North Carolina’s courts?
You may not know the name Harvey West Jr., but he has become one of the most powerful fundraisers for Republican judicial candidates in our state.
His rise to power is as calculated as it is concerning:
A Dark Past: In 1999, Harvey West Jr. was a 28-year-old police officer in eastern North Carolina. He was arrested and charged with statutory rape and other sex offenses involving multiple girls as young as 14.
The "Judicial Picnic": Today [Wednesday, April 22nd, 2026], he and his wife host the statewide "North Carolina Judicial Picnic"—a major source of campaign cash where judicial and legislative officials gather at his home.
A "Family Event": Despite West’s history as a sex offender, the event is branded for families, with his wife publicly encouraging guests to "bring kids."
Many of our elected officials know exactly who Harvey West Jr. is. It didn’t stop them from taking his money.
Do you know if your representatives are connected to West? It’s time to find out.
