Atterbeary (D) goes on the air

With two months to go before the primary, former Del. Vanessa Atterbeary (D-Howard) hit the airwaves on Thursday with her first television ad in the Howard County executive race.

Atterbeary, who served for more than a decade in the General Assembly, touted her record opposing book bans, and supporting gun control measures. She cast herself as a county executive who would oppose the policies of President Donald Trump (R).

“Trump’s fascist agenda is threatening our rights, our federal workers and our future,” she said in the ad.

Atterbeary faces a crowded Democratic field in the primary June 23, that includes two Howard County Council members and small businessman Bob Cockey. The race will be won in the primary, because there is no Republican candidate in the ring to replace the term-limited executive, Calvin Ball (D).
