Cops: Day care provider was registered sex offender
OELWEIN -- An Oelwein woman has been taken into custody following an investigation of a sex offender who was providing day care for two families.
Fayette County sheriff's deputies said the investigation had found that Amber Spring Limkemann, also known as Amber Spring Laughridge, 29, of Oelwein, had provided day care services on several occasions and she failed to register that employment with the state sex offender registry.
On Friday, deputies obtained an arrest warrant and arrested Limkemann on a warrant for violation of sex offender registry at her residence. She was transported to the Fayette County Sheriffs office and held on a $5,000 bond.
The Department of Human Services was called in to evaluate the families given care by Limkemann. This is an ongoing investigation and more charges could be filed at a later date.
