Gwinnett Dems: Last night I received a text regarding a candidate event for GCSB District 4

Hi this is Brenda with the Gwinnett Democrats inviting you to a social event in Lilburn at the Seafood Grille from 6:30-8:30 P.M. tomorrow. Dr. Adrienne Simmons, candidate for Gwinnett School Board District 4, and State Representative Dr. Jasmine Clark will be there. See you soon. Early voting starts May 2nd.

Several of my friends & I were interested in going so I thought I'd try to get some more information. I went to my State Representative's FB page and she had a link for the event which included the following:

Come meet some of the candidates in South Gwinnett! This fun event will allow you to meet and socialize with candidates and ask them questions. It will be an a great time to meet other Democrats in south Gwinnett. Refreshments will be available. Make sure your Democratic friends know about this event.

Registration is required: bit.ly/rungwinnett-april26

BUY YOUR TICKET NOW!

What the text did NOT say is 1.) registration is required. 2.) tickets are $20 (or donation). And there was no link to register for the event.

We figured the event would be a fundraiser but it would have been nice to know you were "expected" to buy a $20 ticket.

I rarely go on FB but thank goodness I did. I'm curious to know what would have happened had we shown up for the event w/o registering as the restaurant is very small. Would we be turned away?

Seriously Gwinnett Dems!

Or did someone invent one and create a zombie web site for the candidate? I would be asking the folks at the venue if that really happened and check the URL for the candidate's web site.

I thought it sounded fishy.
