(4,965 posts)Is a tossup, but it is Georgia and Arizona that deserve our thanks.
I expected Kelly to win, but never in this lifetime did I think Georgia would elect two (two!) Senate seats.

(3,064 posts)First off, a Deep South state goes blue ( the next Virginia?) in the Presidential election and it looks to have delivered two Senatorial seats to give us the lead in the Senate.
Ossoff hasn't totally won yet but I sincerely believe he will. You gave us 16 EVs we weren't especially counting on and now it looks like you've delivered to us Democrats the Senate as well.
My hat is off to the hard working people of Georgia, the superbly run candidacies of Ossoff and Warnock, and of course to the brilliance of Stacie Abrams.
And here's to my home state of Texas delivering 38 EVs to the Dems in 2024. And give the boot to Ted Cruz as well.

(16,755 posts)I've never seen anything like what happened here for Biden's election and now the senate races. This was a lot of work. But it shows that it can be done with support from outside the state as well.

(209 posts)Here's the general outline, as provided by the Georgia Secretary of State's Office:
Jan. 8: Deadline for military and overseas ballots to come in, as well as for voters who had to use provisional ballots to fix their issue (a process known as "curing" their ballot).
Jan. 15: Deadline for counties to certify their results.
Jan. 22: Deadline for state to certify its results.
