Miami mayoral candidates campaign as runoff early voting begins
MIAMI — In-person early voting began on Friday in the runoff election for Miami mayor.
It is the beginning of the end of one of the most unusual and competitive Miami mayoral runoffs in the city’s history.
Both candidates, former County Commissioner Eileen Higgins and former City Manager Emilio Gonzalez, are running campaigns pledging to end drama and corruption within city government.
The two candidates ran get-out-the-vote events on Friday and the infusion of partisan politics into what is officially a nonpartisan race became evident.
