LOXAHATCHEE, Fla.
A man was arrested after allegedly threatening a campaigner outside an early voting site at the Acreage Branch Library in Loxahatchee, according to the Palm Beach County Sheriffs Office.
The suspect, identified as Nicholas Farley, reportedly drove past campaigner Lily Loudon, who was campaigning for Republican candidate Meg Weinberger. Farley allegedly yelled antisemitic slurs and racist remarks at Loudon, escalating his actions by returning to the site and driving erratically close to her and others nearby.
"The verbal really didnt affect me that much, but when he started driving recklessly and things like that, he took it too far," Loudon said.
The sheriffs office reported that Farley, who has a prior record, now faces charges including voter intimidation and election law violations. Under Florida law, voter intimidation can carry penalties of up to five years in prison.

(3,538 posts)We Democrats are seeing our right to political speech being encumbered. The crime described in the OP shows that, on the opposite end of the political spectrum, deranged, hate-filled, sometimes anti-semetic thugs will ratchet up their hateful words to life-threatening acts. I know, the First Amendment protects individuals (and, as per Citizens United, corporations) from the GOVERNMENT imposing restrictions on polical speech. But, still, when a sizeable portion of the populace plans to burn ballots in Democratic districts and to support the early declaration on election night of victory for their fascist candidate, democracy is imperilled.
ON EDIT, I meant to respond to the OP.
