Jonathan Tetelman Withdraws from ‘Il Trittico’ with National Symphony Orchestra

By Francisco Salazar

Jonathan Tetelman has withdrawn from his performance of “Il Trittico” with the National Symphony Orchestra at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. ... The tenor took to social media and said, “I was very much looking forward to performing Il Trittico with the National Symphony Orchestra at the Kennedy Center and Carnegie Hall and to exploring this role for the first time. Unfortunately, I will be unable to offer my participation in these performances.”

He added, “I wish my wonderful colleagues, the orchestra, and the entire team the very best for the upcoming performances, and I hope to have the opportunity to work together in the future. To those who purchased tickets hoping to attend my performance, I sincerely apologize for the disappointment and thank you, as always, for your continued support.”

Tetelman is the latest artist or organization to cancel at the Kennedy Center following Renée Fleming, the Vocal Arts Society, Stephen Schwartz, Lin-Manuel Miranda, The Cookers, Doug Varone and Dancers, Kristy Lee, Chuck Redd, and the team of “Fellow Travelers.”

“Il Trittico” is set to be conducted Gianandrea Noseda and will still star Roman Burdenko, Sabrina Gárdez, Erika Grimaldi, and Agnieszka Rehlis. The operas will be presented on April 29 and May 1 at the Kennedy center and on May 3 at Carnegie Hall. No replacement has yet to be announced.
