District of Columbia
Related: About this forumThe D.C. area faces the potential for its biggest snow since January 2022
as a significant winter storm targets the region Sunday night into Monday night.
Although the forecast may require adjustment, at least 3 or 4 inches is probable for a large part of the region, and some areas could see totals near 8 inches.
Areas that receive less snow may still get a crusty, slick layer of sleet and freezing rain on top of what snow does fall. This scenario is most probable south of the District.
The frozen mix of precipitation will stick to untreated roads and walkways, causing hazardous travel starting late Sunday night. School closures are likely Monday.
Precipitation could linger into Monday night, causing residual closures and delays Tuesday.
