Two candidates file in Collbran recall election

Two people have put their names in the hat leading up to an April 7 recall election for Collbran Town Trustee Jessica Price, whose time in office has been marked by a variety of financial woes and employee departures.

Come Election Day, ballots in the town of about 400 people will include not only a question of whether to recall Price, but of who should succeed her if she’s ousted from the office. Voters’ two other options: Keith Todd and Lew Evans.

Evans, who has served as Collbran’s mayor and a trustee before, said he wasn’t aware of anyone else in the running when he filed to appear on the recall ballot, and said he chose to run fearing nobody else would step up to replace the incumbent.

“I just don’t like what’s happening right now, we’ve had a lot of good people that have left because of (Price), she’s getting rid of people that I think needed to stay there,” Evans said. “She’s just moving people out so that she can get the people in, that she wants … Somebody had to run, there was no one there to take that seat, at the time I picked up my ballot.”
