Pacifica Pier south of San Francisco is closed and is collapsing.

I spend lots of time in this lovely area, either visiting or passing through on other coastal & mountain adventures. A stop at the pier has always been the best part of the day: Bracing fresh air; watching the waves & the birds & the sea lions; talking with the crabbers & fishing crowds. Whole families spending time outside fishing & crabbing together. Hot coffee & pastries from the Chit Chat Cafe and walking along the ocean-front promenade. Coming down during the big-wave events when the streets are wet a block down the road. It's always been a great community gathering spot. I'll miss it. My memory is filled with pictures of my lady friend & I walking along and seeing what's happening and breathing deeply of the clean ocean air. We were just down there a coupla weeks ago.
