Nice pictures.
I'll go take a look at my own Highway 1 photos.
If I can find them on all these disk drives.
All labeled DSCN####, which is not very helpful.

I was hiking in the spring and came to a clearing. One side was the mountains and trees and a meadow full of purple flowers - think they were Columbines. One the right side was the mountains going down to the sea, not many trees but meadows full of orange and yellow Ca. Poppies. I will never forget that wonderful sight!

...my future wife there the first time we traveled together.

I have never forgotten our first - but definitely not our last - night there. We rented a beautiful little cabin situated in a grove of redwoods, isolated with a hot tub outside.

It was the best night of my life up to that point, to be followed by many other "best nights of my life," all of them involving her, some of which were also in Big Sur.

Sigh...
