couple KNOWINGLY paid $1.3 million for house in Palos Verdes landslide area...because it was 50% of value

and now they've poured another 200K into the home and it's still sliding.

their reasoning for buying this house in crisis.. ."priced out of much of California".... not true. $1.3 M would have bought a nice house somewhere...just not with ocean views.

Their views to the ocean have improved substantially as houses around them descend into the earth.

Home owners policies. It might be possible to get some kind of special insurance, except that no one would insure a place where the land is in the process of sliding.

Steel beams, pumping out the ground water, jacking up the house, and so on
will buy you a little more time but if planetary forces are moving the mountain your
house is on downhill and into the ocean than you are screwed. ,

They are both morons than. It is like building a home on a well known, historic flood plain and then being surprised when you can't get insur for it, it floods every other year and no buyers will look at it no matter how low the asking price.
