In my part of Arkansas at least he is mighty danged popular. Jimmy was a Christian gentleman, after all.
Even a magat ignoramus isn't going to ignore the situation. She might be popular with a lot of Arkansawyers but she still doesn't want to risk committing political suicide. There are plenty other magats here she could be replaced with.
Remember, Arkansas is weird.

when the state voted for an anti-war Democrat for the Senate (J. William Fulbright), a Progressive Republican as Governor (Winthrop Rockefeller), and an avowed segregationist for President (George Wallace). If Bobby Kennedy had lived and gotten the nomination, I'm pretty sure the state would have voted for him.

8. She is very opportunist. She even called out the national guard early for the snow storm.

I think she may be seeing the tide may be shifting some and she may be stuck in Arkansas rather than DC.
