PHOENIX The wife of former Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio is recovering from a rattlesnake bite.
The Arizona Republic reports that Ava Arpaio was bitten in the couple's Fountain Hills home on Friday morning.
Joe Arpaio told the Republic that she was sitting in her office when the snake bit her. He said she is recovering at a local hospital.

Obviously, I do hope his wife is ok. Rattlesnakes in AZ and NM frequently enter homes... Ask Kali about that. Keep one's ax handy.

(118,515 posts)but when it comes to to protection from rattlesnakes and other wild animals I am willing to make an exception. My father shot a few rattlesnakes near our home when I was young.

(118,515 posts)Definitely don't want to ruin the floor surface with a gun blast. It's also kinder to the neighbors that live close so they won't hear the noise.
