(Deadline) The leadership of 60 Minutes is no longer recognizable, Scott Pelley said late Tuesday just hours after being fired from CBS News after almost 40 years at the network. The principles I hold dear are gone, and so I must leave as well, the former CBS Evening News anchor and 60 Minutes correspondent added in a scathing parting salvo to CBS News boss Bari Weiss, newly minted 60 EP Nick Bilton and Paramount CEO David Ellison.
As Ellison seeks full approval of his $111 billion acquisition of Warner Bros Discovery from the federal government, a blunt Pelley accused CBS News of bending the knee to Donald Trump.
Revealing that new management has instructed me to inject falsehoods and bias into a politically sensitive story, Pelley stated incompetence and unprofessionalism in the new management have wreaked havoc. Throwing Free Press founder Weiss well under the bus in a chaotic news division now in open revolt I hear, Pelley continued: In a case involving one of my stories, the entire program came within 19 minutes of not getting on the air at all.

(42,642 posts)... I'm pretty sure Scott was going to be fired anyway. Not that he deserved to be fired, but the folks with talent and scruples have all been shown the door recently. CBS just doesn't give a shit, and they're willing to sacrifice the best and most profitable news show ever created, just to prove their "loyalty" to Chump.
Chump will be gone in 2 years or less ... but 60 Minutes will be gone FOREVER. CBS cannot survive at this rate, they'll be gone too, before we know it. Paramount "bought" CBS and turned it into nothing in record time.
I hope Scott Pelley writes a book, or maybe he'll go Rachel Maddow's route and do podcasts on the internet. He deserves the opportunity to tell everyone the very large shaft he was handed, before they fired him.

(10,362 posts)Daddy's money will buy him CBS, Paramount+, & probably Warner Bros. Discovery. However, he needs federal approval, & if Colbert, Scott Pelley, Sharyn Alfonsi, Cecelia Vega, & 60 Minutes have to be taken down, that's fine with him & his fellow no-talent loser deputy Bari. I watched 60 Minutes every week. All the reporters are excellent, but Scott Pelley was my favorite.
