Gil Gerard, the star of NBC's sci-fi series Buck Rogers in the 25th Century, has died. He was 82.
Gerard's wife of 18 years, Janet Gerard, announced the news on Tuesday, Dec. 16 via Facebook, revealing that her husband died that morning, having "lost his fight with a rare and viciously aggressive form of cancer."
Before he died in hospice care, the actor left a message with Janet, which she later posted on his official Facebook page.
"If you are reading this, then Janet has posted it as I asked her to," the note began. "My life has been an amazing journey. The opportunities Ive had, the people Ive met and the love I have given and received have made my 82 years on the planet deeply satisfying. My journey has taken me from Arkansas to New York to Los Angeles, and finally, to my home in North Georgia with my amazing wife, Janet, of 18 years."

The original Buck Rogers (Buster Crabbe) appeared in an episode of the Gil Gerard series.

Five years ago there was talk of another Buck Rogers series but nothing came of it.
Would have been cool to see Gil Gerard and Erin Gray get a guest shot 40 years after Buster Crabbe got one.
Which was 40 years after the original
