but no honey bees to be seen. Luckily others are helping out. I understand our triple digit temps of late are devastating to honey bee colonies

(3,569 posts)I like the inclusion of insects in your flower photos. I've been trying to do that more often in my floral shots, but with a phone camera am not getting the detailed resolution you have.

(10,772 posts)two are macro. one is 50mm and almost a pancake lens that requires getting within an inch of the subject so the camera gets in the way of natural light, casts a shadow. these were taken with a 24mm probe lens that needs to be within an inch, but is only as big around as a dime and the camera is 12' away so no shadow is cast. the wasps did not seem to be bothered by the probe.
on the other end of the spectrum, I use a couple of telephoto zooms and one prime that have a minimum focus distance of 10'-16' for those subjects that absolutely will not allow you to get that close:

(3,569 posts)Love the dragonfly
it looks like an artists creation.
Thanks for the additional tips!
Mint, my nemesis! Like kryptonite!
I'm so allergic to it that I can't be within several feet of someone chewing mint gum or eating a tic tac. Brushing my teeth is an ordeal a couple times a day, burns my mouth and makes my nose run and I look like I just got wasted on pot every time.
Has really pretty blossoms, though. Nice pictures!

(10,772 posts)photos of mint. I hope you didn't break out this time!
Forgot I mentioned it before!
I do think the plant is very pretty and like to take pictures of it myself. Fortunately, I don;t get reactions from pictures!
