Horses' Friday - Horses we have met and known at our old farm. + 'Round the new farm.

Last edited Fri Apr 24, 2026, 08:17 AM - Edit history (2)

In this photo, our neighbor's three horses were watching horses and riders on our obstacle/trail course. The horse in foreground and his rider were practicing on the course.

Our friend was warming up her horse in the arena before heading out on the course.

Trail course riders would challenge their horses at The Big Log.

Some riders trained their horses in-hand to overcome obstacles.

This gal was leading her horse through The Pond.

We boarded horses for years. Retirees lived well. Here are four ~
This is Sonny ~

Charlie Brown was, I'll admit it, our favorite ~

Narjolijn (Narj) was once a Show Jumper ~

Mystic (short for Optimystic) on a frosty February morn ~

Around the farm:
Maddie and Pete are spending a little more time grazing each afternoon.
Alas, they are not yet ready for full-time green grass.

Maddie can stretch her limits when she wants to.

Still they'd rather be on pasture.
Mommy works while Maddie grazes. The natural order of things for a horse.

The big log and concrete pieces, next to Maddie and behind Pete, will be the
base for a dirt and gravel entrance to the barn.

Happy Horsies

Laurie has been busy inside the barn. The main aisle is more level than ever.

She's been filling in ditches which contain water and electric lines.

And even created a bridge for her puppydog and husband.

AND she mowed the lawn (in her spare time). With grand-dog Pepper's "help".

It was a non-stop mowing. The Cub Cadet had not been starting; so once
Laurie got it going, she kept on going until the half-acre lawn was done.

I agree Aussie105. We are our cat's servant. But technically he is ours. George McGovern 21 min ago #3

Horse owners, cat owners or dog owners.

The term 'owner' is loosely applied of course.

I'm definitely my cat's servant.

As far as nice goes, we befriended our boarder horses' owners. Wonderful, caring people. Dog and cat people can be nice too. I don't know, I just take pictures. Thank You!
