I saw him in concert lo so many years ago. It was an amazi0ng performance, but also rather sad, since he drank all through the show so that by the time he finished he was pretty sloshed. He had two paper bags in front of his chair. Somene shouted out, "What's in the bags?" and he answered, "There's coke in the coke and rum in the rum," and spent the evening swigging from each in turn.

But, like I say, an amazing show. Just one man with an accoustic guitar and he had the whole room in the palm of his hand.

... maybe '68 or '69. It was the sixties after all, so recollections can be a bit hazy, but it was a joy to see him play. I also loved Sandy Bull, who could play anything with strings, and he played a banjo like he was born with it in his hands. Bach on a banjo was something to behold!
