I know what you mean about making art keeping anxiety down. It keeps your focus in the here and now. And now your pastel painting can keep others' anxiety down, too. It's soothing.

Skies are my very favorite themes in art! I love skies because they are never static and they change completely all day long, going from soft light to angry turmoil.

Your skyscape catches that moment in time which is so fleeting when the setting Sun is still shining on the higher clouds but no longer reflected in the lower ones or on the ground, plunging them into the growing darkness. The far horizon becomes the focal point but the viewer’s eye gets drawn into the forefront darkened landscape picking out the details of the barren bushes adding the realization that the season is late Fall or Winter.

The shape of your clouds, especially the dark one overhead are wispy and light yet defined which gives the feeling of soft tranquility, in spite of the dark coloring of the ground and the bare branches of the bushes. The way you painted the darkened cloud against the gorgeous colors in the sky itself is beautiful and soft and sparkling all at once. All of it subtly rendered.
