How my mind works

I had several cards to send out for birthday and graduations. I got on facebook to check the spelling of a first name, that can be spelled 2 ways, who knows, maybe more. I checked my notifications, looked at and liked some posts, looked at recent posts from the humane society, shared them, then antique groups and then watched several reels. Closed facebook, went back to the cards. Smacking my head--didn't check the name. Opened facebook and checked for the name. Back to the cards.

Every single time!

Walk into a room, forget what I went in for. Fire up my lap top, forget why I did. Generally the answers always pop up, but it is so frustrating;

But now young people are in the same boat because of the mind-splintering effects of social media. What was promoted as a way to stay connected with others has now become a force that severs connections between your individual brain cells.

I remember reading this years and years ago: The average person is exposed to more information from 1 edition of the New York Times than the average 18th Century farmer was exposed to in his lifetime. And I read this back when computers were just starting to appear in people's homes and the internet was in its infancy. Never forgot that little tidbit of information.

I walk into a room, forget why I walked in there, walk back to where I was, remembered why I left the room and repeat out loud what I need to obtain.

I lose/misplace items all the time. They reappear eventually so I try not to get to upset.

Then I lose threads that I want to comment on. I lost one of yours recently.

Someone please help me!

Stand at parked car, push the "Key lock" button, and physically say out loud..."The car is locked".
Otherwise, I'm haunted later and have to trek back to the parking garage at any/all hours to make sure it's done.

Aging isn't for the timid.

Before leaving the house, I'll turn the button off while dumping the old coffee grounds and I'll say, "Purple banana cheesecake!"

It's so obscure that I remember turning off that coffee maker during the day.

I concur that aging isn't for the timid.
