She understands English pretty well.

Additionally, she taught herself four different tricks. One of those was a fake of another trick that she thought would be funny. The first time she did it, she turned and gave me a look that said, "Now, *that's* comedy!' Cracked me up.

When I was trying to get into some sort of shape, I put my exercise mat on the floor and was doing sit ups. I heard some kitty grunts next to me and turned to see her on her back squirming around.

She is fifteen years old now and is still the world's smartest cat, imo. Her sister is no slouch, either.

Mine has a pretty good vocabulary. I taught her my name by pointing at myself and repeating my name, then pointing at her and repeating her name.

She does not like being left alone. Gets anxious when I am leaving and I can hear her howl as I walk down the hallway of my apt. bldg. So now I tell her in advance, "wnylib go out. Ember stay here," with hand gestures. She understands and does not howl if I do that.

She knows the words "here" and "good." So when I return, I say, "wnylib here. Good. Ember here. Good." It keeps here from getting anxious when I leave.

She also knows the following words: treat, hungry, tuna, play, it's OK, no, what are you doing?, and the names of her toys.

I've had some smart cats before, but never had one who could learn words so quickly and easily. Ironically, she does not try to communicate vocally. She rarely meows. But she is good at body language to get my attention or let me know something. Also has facial expressions that crack me up sometimes -- surprised, wary, disgusted, angry, indifferent, happy, eager, etc.
