I go downstairs to get something.

I go downstairs to get something.
I get something.
I go back upstairs.
I go back downstairs to get the something I wanted.
I go back upstairs.
It's my exercise program.
.
That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

for my truck keys at the top of the basement steps so I could start my truck which I park outside
with my remote without going downstairs. With the first cold day this winter I hung my keys
upstairs. The next morning I go downstairs and my keys are gone. I spent probably a half hour searching
the basement and upstairs for my keys. On about my 4th trip back to the basement I see the keys by the
door upstairs right where I had put them.

Then I see something else and do that, and maybe a second thing catches my attention and I do that.

Then I decide to go back upstairs, and I'm always surprised by what's on the stairs. If I hadn't put it there in the first place I wouldn't have remembered it until I was back upstairs.

I'll carry a bag with me everywhere and put stuff in it upstairs/downstairs/ground level. I have a room on the 3rd floor and it's a lot of pains to go all the way back up or down when I've forgotten the object of my desires.

Recently, I went downstairs, retrieved what I needed, and ran back up the stairs with whatever the fuck it was who can remember that, and bragged to my son that I had, indeed, walked into the kitchen and knew instantly what I was there for.

9. i know you're joking, but there's a trick for this-

the reason this happens is that walking through a door resets your internal map.
if u take a second at the door to remind yourself, you’ll remember.
if u forget, turn around, walk back toward the door. usually u will remember b4 u get to the door. worse comes to worse, when you walk back through the door, u WILL remember.
