The de rigueur, cut and paste response on live 60s and 70s pop and rock performance on YouTube goes something like this:

“No backing tracks. No autotune. No twerking. Nothing but pure talent that is, sadly, lacking today.”
******

I’m 69, but fuck these boomers with their need to add this well worn shit. Or is it the same person saying this on every video? I haven’t paid attention. Have you noticed the abundance of these comments? Embarrassing.

Musical taste has always been subjective. So, every kind of music is going to not be somebody's cup of tea.
Besides, is their anything in such comments that are counterfactual.
Autotune didn't exist. Backing tracks were very difficult to do given the technology. Dance moves were part of rock/pop music outside of motown & philly sound stuff.
You find stating facts embarrassing?
Curious.

With Mac Davis, John Denver, the Captain and Tennille, and let's not forget Barry Manilow.

Whereas today's music includes The Lumineers, Mumford and Sons, Lady Blackbird and Hozier.

My point: there was great stuff back then and there was crap, too. There's great stuff now and there's crap, too.

People forget. I remember suffering through Donny and Marie every week.
