But the thing is, she got a second chance. Rescues like this are about saving the animal and if at all possible releasing it back into the wild. The ultimate goal is the release. Hopefully it won't happen again.

I had an Eastern Painted Turtle as a kid that my Dad's friend rescued from the road while crossing a mountain. And we only had him for so long when my Dad insisted we let him go in a nearby artists' colony where there were woods and a stream, far from any roads, I like to think he's still there...
