The very tip of the Washington Monument was made of aluminum for that reason.

A 5.6 inch square, 8.9 inch tall pyramid, which was the largest piece of aluminum existing in the world at the time it was cast (late 1880s).

Of colored gold has been invented purple gold is purple because of the aluminum in it.
