The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsI woke up this morning totally believing that it was Monday....
First I checked my checking account, wondering why my SS deposit hadn't arrived yet,
although sometimes they are late....
then wondering why 'Story' sub-digital channel was showing biographies,
instead of military histories which they do on Monday....
Also, I was having trouble with my phone, or I thought I was....
thought it was stuck posting the date from the day before...
Took me almost an hour to realize that it was Sunday and not Monday.
Maybe I was too anxious for Monday to arrive, being my Social Security 'payday'---
or maybe I just wanted to skip the Sunday morning news-shows,
which I mostly did because I woke up too late.....???
(I especially don't wish to see little LIndsey on 'Face The Nation'
or ANY OTHER Sunday morning show EVER AGAIN, or anywhere else!!!)
Any other retirees experience ever experience this problem ??---
I suspect there ARE some....

(1,525 posts)I had to reorient a bit to keep track. Avoiding Lindsey Graham on Sundays seems like a good point of reference.

(2,683 posts)Twice I ran around the house frantically getting the garbage ready to take out to the curb before the truck got here thinking it was Monday and it was actually Sunday. Last Tuesday, I thought it was Sunday. Once I thought it was Friday and it was Tuesday. Those are just a few examples.
Since I retired, I'm not really sure what day it is anymore. Oh well, there are worse things I could forget.

(1,507 posts)Tonight through tomorrow we're getting 5-8 inches of snow and we also are under
a blizzard warning. Yeah, I'm only 8-10 miles south of the Wisconsin state line, but
come on it's the middle of March. Oh yes, I forgot. It's going down to 7F tomorrow night.
Sorry to whine, but I am so done with winter. On the plus side I haven't put the snow
blower away yet.

(29,360 posts)...which day of the week it is, is by which little chamber you have to open on your 7 days-of-the-week pill organizer.

(248 posts)after seeing my problem of keeping up with the days of the week, gave me a day clock. It shows the day it big letters around the clock and keeps good time.
After seeing how often, I referred to it, she got herself one. Now, we call it 'The Retirees Clock' and I get one for all my friends who retiring knowing they will need it sooner or later.
Some of us call it the 'last clock you'll ever need''.

(4,958 posts)which I usually look at pretty soon upon waking, to see what the 'daily nightmare' is!
I was so convinced it was Monday, I thought my phone was fouled up! LOL
oldsoldierfadingfast
(248 posts)a smart phone, but since I can't get a signal (surrounded on all 4 sides by mountains) it does not pay.
Even if I could get a signal, I am almost totally deaf and would never hear it ring.
Even if I could hear it ring, I cannot hear what the caller is saying.
What I do have is a landline with a phone with a loud ring in every room, email and Angels in Disguise who make and take the necessary calls for me.
