top several food cities on the planet.

The 'Britain has mostly shit food' trope (even including London, where I grew up) is so dated and so inaccurate now, especially amongst Americans, who seem (to me, based on my own experiences) to be the most misinformed (and vocal, which is hardly a shock) in terms of still pushing it. Many Americans have never even been to the UK yet cling to same old tropes and stereotypes, some quite aggressively (again, hardly a shock, at least for me).

Sure, you can find absolutely shite food in the UK, but that is true of any and all countries, especially with the rise of dodgy (and often semi or fully globalised) chains over the past multiple decades.

can be found in London. I am sure some of our larger cities would argue with that.

I would think English Breakfast in general
I also understand good seafood, since GB is surrounded by ocean. Same way in Spain.

claims to have the best outside of China, along with London. Other places would be Vancouver (and perhaps Toronto) in Canada, Sydney and Melbourne in Australia (especially Melbourne), Tokyo and Osaka in Japan, Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia, Seoul in South Korea, Singapore, and of course, Taiwan. I count Hong Kong as being part of China. The food scene there is so good, as it is with most (all IMHO) places I listed. Paris has some amazing Chinese restos as well.
